I was a victim of abuse. I felt like I couldn’t leave. I feared for my childrens’ safety, I feared for my safety. He promised to change. I beat the statistic. I did it. Yellow Brick House changed my life.
Through their emergency shelter and outreach services, I felt empowered again. It offered me and my children a safe place to leave my abusive relationship and through their array of services, it gave me a confidence to start a new life.
What helped me most was the services were targeted and tailored to help me in each stage of the process; even when I needed to leave the shelter, my relationship with yellow brick house did not end; they provided me with further counseling and legal support services and set me up with rita’s place, a transitional house to help me ease into what would be my new future.
It is my now chance to give back. Since leaving Yellow Brick House, I went back to school and got my degree in business management.
